Immerse yourself in the ultimate convergence of sports, music, and world-class athletes at the stunning Kitsilano Beach. Kitsfest is a one of a kind sports event that stands out in the Pacific Northwest and promises an unforgettable experience.
Kitsfest has the top talent from around the world competing on the beach for a two-day sports festival.
In 2016, Daved Benefield, a former professional football player with the BC Lions, CFL, and San Francisco 49ers, founded the Red Zone Football tournament to merge his two passions - football and the beach. Growing up in Southern California, Daved spent countless hours either in the surf or throwing a football on the beach. He saw this as an opportunity to create a platform to showcase his son Ty's talent as a young quarterback and receivers making great catches in front of a large audience. "The game format was designed to be fast-paced and competitive, similar to beach volleyball and basketball, while also being accessible to casual fans who could enjoy the game while soaking up the sun or passing by on a walk."
Over the years the game has grown from SFU vs UBC, to Police and Fire Departments competing against teams from around the lower mainland. And a growing women's division that inspired Daved's daughter Addyson and her young team to compete against the boys as a first for the tournament.
I'd like to give a special shout-out to all of our sponsors over the years in order of appearance.

I'd like to say huge special thanks to Howard Kelsey, the big Fella for bringing the creative, football guy into his vision and amazing sports festival team.
Howard you have given me such a confidence boost to not sell myself short and to go out to make things happen. Now one of these days teach me how to shoot the round ball. Yes, I' m from Pasadena but range, and my shooting game is rather suspect just no good.
Ron Putzi thanks for being another athlete creative, and talking to me and collaborating in the creative process. Thanks for listening, and trusting my vibe.
And finally thanks to everybody who has been just so damn great, and believing.
Welcome to the RedZone Tournament - a thrilling and dynamic 6-on-6 passing and receiving showcase competition designed to enhance both mental and physical skills. This tournament brings out the best in quarterbacks, receivers, linebackers, and defensive backs. There are no linemen, running plays, blocking, or tackling involved. Quarterbacks can only run if blitzed, and the defense can only blitz once per series. Each team has 3 minutes and 30 seconds to score as many points as possible. Once the time is up, teams switch from offense to defense, and the opposing team must match or surpass the previous offense's point total to win. Join us at the RedZone Tournament for an unforgettable experience that will take your skills to the next level.
How often do you wish you could showcase your QB, receiving or coverage talent to your peers, friends, and casual fans? No linemen, no running backs, no blocking, tackling, or contact. The Redzone is just pure passing, catching, and defending. It is one field, one game, a classic football, "skelly 2-minute drill" slightly tweaked for the crowd at the KITSFEST.
Beach volleyball, at Kitsilano beach, has some of the coolest elements in sports. The game, environment, competition, and visual sights. It's a sports event that's like a party. I'm taking out the net, and adding a QB and 5 WRS, digital timers, a shortened field, and a running clock. It is just a showcase of talent and a great time at the beach, right?
