The “red zone” in football is the area between the 20 yard line and the goal line. It is most commonly the area where teams score, or get scored upon. When the game is played in the red zone, it elevates the play of both teams – offense, defense, and special teams.
Our goal at Red Zone Academy is to help youth players and coaches “elevate” their game for every down, snap to whistle. We are passionate about football. Through advanced player camps and coaching clinics, we strive to help players and coaches elevate their game – and play and coach to their full potential. We seek out the very best and most progressive minds in football to teach the latest techniques, drills, systems, and coaching strategies.
Football is the ultimate team game. At Red Zone Academy we are committed to teaching youth football in the context of team execution. We want to help you, as a player or coach, to harness the incredible power of synergy on a football field.
Join us for a Red Zone Academy clinic or camp – and “elevate your game.”

Red Zone Academy operates football camps and clinics across the Lower Mainland, BC including Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Langley, Surrey, Vancouver and more.
Another successful Coaches Position Clinic at Rick Hansen Secondary was held on February 16, 2013. We were happy to have two amazing guest speakers come out for our DB/WR Coaches Clinic. The first guest speaker was UBC Thunderbirds WR Coach and Vancouver’s AM1040 Scott Rintoul. Scott discussed WR alignments, motion, and footwork within the Canadian game.
We would like to thank the three players from Terry Fox Ravens who helped out all day demoing drills for our guest speakers. The second portion followed with Coach Rintoul moving into the gym to go over skills/drills, and continuing on with our new approach to Coaching Clinics.
The afternoon session was well received with our second guest speaker, former SFU DB Coach and now current Terry Fox Ravens DB Coach, Jordan Liberman. Coach Liberman went over DB play and coverages within multiple defensive systems. His second session was back in the gym with the Terry Fox players continuing to demo drills.
Offering this option for Coaching Clinics and having the players to demonstrate the drills/skills after each session, will allow coach to receive a better understanding.
Red Zone Academy will continue to work with Coaches to make sure we have the best coaches in Canada teaching your son/daughter.
We are pleased to have held our second coaches clinic, January 26, in Abbotsford at Rotary Stadium. The clinic topics included LB/RB within multiple systems with a skill/drills session. We are also excited to offer at all our coaching clinics, full demonstrations from players after each position specific clinic. This way, the coaches can clearly understand and see how all of the drills are taught and executed in practice.
Our guest coach for the first session was LB Coach with the UBC Thunderbirds, Matt Gratton. Matt discussed LB play and gap responsibilities within multiple defensive systems. Matt then moved his second part of the session outside to go over basic skills/drills for LB play. We are pleased to make sure all our coaches clinic topics are age specific to help the coach gain a better understanding of the position to take back to their team.
The afternoon session was about getting the most out of your RB’s with Red Zone Academy’s Mike Derksen. We discussed footwork, ball control and what it takes to develop a powerful and punishing RB. Coach Derksen also finished his session with skills/drills for RB’s. The new format for our Coaches Clinic was well received. The next Coaches Clinic is February 16, WR/DB play.
In 2013, Red Zone Academy has made coaches education our number one priority. As we all know, everything begins and ends with the coaches. By educating them, your son/daughter will receive the best possible advantage over the competition.
We held our first coaches clinic on January 12 in Abbotsford at Rotary Stadium. Clinic topics discussed were Offensive System and Practice Plans. Our guest speaker was former Abbotsford Air Force Head Coach and former SFU Offensive Coach, Jaret St. Andrassy. Coach St. Andrassy went over the multiple player positions and their roles within any Offensive System. He also went over systematic ways of structuring and getting the most out of your players and practice time.
Red Zone Academy was happy with the first Coaches Clinic of 2013. We were pleased to have coaches from all over the Lower Mainland in attendance. It was great to see so many coaches wanting to improve their knowledge of football. Our next Coaches Clinic is January 26, with a focus on RBs/LBs.
